Grand Marshal Kevin Kinney:

Kinney, a longtime West Caldwell resident and local realtor, grew up in East Orange and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair. His Irish roots go back at least four generations on both sides of the family.

Kinney’s love of all things Irish comes mainly from his father, “Charlie,” who marched regularly in the parade and was a parade official for the Newark St Patrick’s Day Parade. He later marched with the Gatsby’s Association in the West Orange Parade.

Kinney has marched in the West Orange Parade with various groups, including the Montclair Rugby Club and the Eddie Mal Association. He also led the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh as president on what would have been Charlie’s 80th Birthday in 2013.

He is extremely active in his community, participating as a baseball and basketball coach for years in the town’s youth recreation leagues and a CYO basketball coach with St. Aloysius in Caldwell. He was also affiliated with the St Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for childhood cancers that helped cement the Shillelagh Club as one of the premier charitable groups in the state.

Deputy Grand Marshal Gwen Glazier:

A life-long resident of the Oranges, Glazier graduated from Our Lady of the Valley Grade & High School and Caldwell University. She is currently employed part-time by MetLife and Prudential as a Benefit Counselor and is also a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church of West Orange and a volunteer at the Trinity Soup Kitchen.

She is an active member of the Women of Irish Heritage; the Cryan, Giblin and McGovern Associations; the Newark St. Patrick’s Day Parade and 100th Anniversary Rising to include the Irish Mass & Celebration at St. Patrick’s Pro-Cathedral in Newark and the 2016 Military Park Event.

In addition to her Irish heritage, Glazier’s Great-Great Uncle, William Glazier, relocated to West Orange from Philadelphia in 1878 to take charge of the Stetson Mfg. Company, later incorporated as the “No Name Hat Factory.” He was subsequently elected to the West Orange Township Council and his name still appears with other township council members on a plaque above the Timothy Groves Police Sub-Station Building on Washington Street.

Deputy Grand Marshal Marian Reilly Cardace:

Cardace was raised in West Orange as the youngest of seven siblings. She currently resides in Roseland and has worked for 25 years as an executive administration assistant at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, now RWJBarnabas Health.

She is a member of the Irish American Society of the Oranges and has assisted in coordinating the fundraising events for the organization, whose goals are to foster Irish heritage and promote citizenship within our local communities.

Cardace vividly remembers a time as a child when the West Orange Parade ended at the A&P on Main Street, where she boarding a bus immediately after to attend the Newark Parade.

Her brother, Richard Reilly, died last year but not before becoming a citizen of the Republic of Ireland and Cardace is considering honoring her Irish heritage by applying for Irish citizenship as well.

Deputy Grand Marshal Robert Hoehn:

Born in West Orange in 1949, Hoehn has served on the West Orange Zoning Board and the West Orange Historical Commission and is a former coach for West Orange recreation department traveling baseball teams, as well as a coach (baseball/basketball) and trustee (basketball) for the Mountain Top League.  Robert also served as a lector/commentator and CCD instructor at Our Lady of the Valley.

His Irish heritage is traceable back to 1785. He is married to Kathleen Ann Dyer, the daughter of Elizabeth McLaughlin and Jack Dyer, an Orange police officer and founder of Valley Die Cutting Co., and together they have four children.
