WEST ORANGE, NJ — Local business owners packed the West Orange Courtyard Marriott at a recent networking event hosted by the West Orange Chamber of Commerce (WOCC).

More than 40 business professionals from multiple industries, including retail, health, service, financial and more attended the two-hour evening event. Also in attendance were many township officials and stakeholders, including Mayor Robert Parisi, Deputy Mayor Adolfo Rodriguez, Megan Brill of the Downtown West Orange Alliance and township historian Joe Fagan.

“It is always great to have an opportunity to meet with members of our business community,” said Parisi, whose co-owned business, Levy Parisi Insurance Group, sponsored the event. “[The] event was a good example of how important our chamber of commerce is in West Orange.”

Attendees filled the lobby and patio at the Courtyard Marriott, 8 Rooney Circle, near the Essex Green Shopping Plaza, for the casual networking event. The mixer proved fruitful for those looking to grow their contacts, including new-to-town business owner Roman Martens.

“As a newcomer and a business just starting up in West Orange, this networking event was vital for me,” said Martens, franchise owner of British Swim School New Jersey-The Oranges. “I met at least 15 new people, secured my first customer, took the first step to forge a new partnership with a local business, and met lots of great people in our community...all in 90 minutes. Great event."

The WOCC hosts monthly events alternating between a learning event entitled Biz 2.0 and social events called mixers.

“The chamber is growing and we are welcoming several new members each month,” said Arnie Amir, who sits on the WOCC board of directors and heads the Events and Membership committees. "We are excited and thankful to see so many of our new and veteran members participating in our evening Mixers, as well as our Biz 2.0 Workshops for Growing Businesses series.

“Our goal is to provide many opportunities for all our members to make great business connections and benefit by their combined business wisdom. We welcome all business people who would like to join us."
