WEST ORANGE, NJ — The following thefts and burglaries involving motor vehicles were reported between Oct. 2 and Oct. 7, including one stolen vehicle that has not been recovered and a second attempt to gain entry to a particular vehicle:
The owner of a beige 2005 Lexus LS 430 reported on Oct. 3 that her vehicle was stolen from the Residence Inn located at 107 Prospect Avenue overnight. The victim stated that her vehicle was locked and that she is in possession of the keys.
The owner of a white 2013 Infiniti M37X reported on Oct. 2 that some unknown person(s) entered her unlocked vehicle on Curtis Avenue sometime between Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 and removed her New Jersey registration and Plymouth Rock insurance cards.
On the same date, a victim on the same street reported that two vehicles, a white 2012 Audi S4 and a white 2013 Ford Taurus rental, both unlocked, were burglarized overnight. An Apple iPhone 5 was taken from the Audi S4.
On Oct. 7, a resident of Tompkins Street reported that a second attempt was made to gain entry to her brother’s red 1999 Audi A4, which was parked outside her home.
According to the victim’s report, her boyfriend heard a car alarm sounding from the front of their residence. Subsequently, the couple observed a white two-door vehicle parked alongside the Audi A4.
The victim stated that the passenger of the white vehicle was hanging out of the window and attempting to gain entry to the Audi with an unknown object. Entry was not gained, but police said this is the second attempt for this vehicle.
The couple reported that they also observed a four-door, dark-colored vehicle parked directly behind the Audi. Both vehicles sped off, fleeing southbound when they called from the window of the home.
An investigation revealed that the suspects attempted to gain entry to the vehicle by causing damage to the driver’s front door lock with an unknown tool or object.
