WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Ninth Annual Frank Schott Memorial Blood Drive, sponsored by the Celtic Sisters and The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh, is being held on Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Shillelagh Club, located at 648 Prospect Avenue in West Orange. One of the largest community blood drives in the area, each year, the well-supported event brings together members of the Irish American community, the West Orange and West Essex communities, and more, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
According to the Frank Schott Memorial Blood Drive Facebook page, there is a critical shortage of blood right now.
A free breakfast will be offered for donors courtesy of Stage Left Restaurant, which is owned by Francis Schott, the son of the late Francis Schott, Sr., who is honored by the annual blood drive. Francis Schott, Sr. is also the proprietor of Catherine Lombardi's Restaurants in New Brunswick.
Frank Schott, Sr., who passed away in 1985, was the Fire Chief of Orange and a member of the Shillelagh Club. He was married to Dorothy and had four children: Francis Schott, Jr.; Michelle Schott, Esq.; Pamela Schott, MSW; and Francine Schott, Judge of the Superior Court NJ.
