WEST ORANGE, NJ -- In light of the tragedy in Orlando, North Jersey Pride has changed the topic of a scheduled parenting seminar to address the present-day issue facing parents, both LGBTQ and supporters, about how to talk to kids and families about the tragic shooting.
The organization is holding what they call "an important conversation with other parents and adults" at Holy Innocents Church, 681 Prospect Ave in West Orange at 6:30 on June 21.
Scott Fried, a health educator who works with LGBTQ families in crisis, will facilitate the discussion. Panelists from Family Equality Council, MetLife, and Modern Family Center at Spence-Chapin will participate. The organization promises the conversation will be interactive and invites community members, both LGBTQ and supportive ally, to share their thoughts.
