WEST ORANGE, NJ — A 22-year-old man from Orange was recently arrested in West Orange in connection to several car break-ins on the western end of town, police said.

Officers of the West Orange Police Department detained the suspect when a Rutgers St. resident reported a man going through yards and breaking into vehicles just before 7 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to police, responding officers pursued the suspect on foot and arrested him on Cornell Street in West Orange.

Police are continuing to investigate and are working with surrounding towns to determine if the suspect is connected to several break-ins in other West Essex towns, including Livingston, Roseland, Caldwell and East Hanover.
