WEST ORANGE, NJ - In celebration of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, Liberty Middle School is getting ready to kick off its Second Annual "Fun Run," on Saturday, May 2, by getting “RUN-Bunctious.” The Fun Run is a two-mile run/fitness walk around the campus of Liberty Middle School, located at One Kelly Drive. Proceeds from the event will go to Liberty Middle School’s Wellness Committee, and to the LMS Scholarship Fund.
The school is asking the community to challenge itself to get active and moving throughout the month of May, and for the rest of one’s life. Whether one runs, walks, dances, or skips—the school is asking the community to make a commitment to one’s health.
All members of the community are encouraged to attend, and entries are still being accepted. Participants will receive a fun run t-shirt, free chair massages, and snacks and refreshments provided by local organizations. See the flyer in the photo gallery for more information and to register.
Liberty Middle School Assistant Principal and Fun Run Coordinator Aixa Garcia said, "As a runner, I've seen the hashtag ‘#Run-Bunctious’ all over social media and interpreted it to mean an excitement about running or being active in general. It's the ideal philosophy for our Health and Wellness campaign for the month of May."
Staff and students hosted a kick off assembly, with the help of the LMS track team on March 23 to provide details and generate enthusiasm from the students. A benefit fundraiser at the Essex Green Fridays was held, and Jersey Mike’s Subs has agreed to host a fundraiser for the school as well.
In addition, a special Spirit Week will be held at LMS during the week of April 28 to promote the May 2 event and the "RUN-Bunctious" movement.
