WEST ORANGE, NJ - Early registration for Mountain Top’s 3v3 Summer Soccer program, which is geared for children who have played soccer previously, started on May 4 and will run through June 15 at midnight, with a cost of $115. Starting June 16 through July 1, late registration will cost $150.00.
The eight-week summer season will be played at Edison Middle School, beginning on July 6. It will run through the weekend of August 30.
Programs are being offered for the following age-groups: ages 5 and 6; ages 7 and 8; and ages 9 and10. Click HERE to register.
Players will have a choice of Sunday evening sessions or Tuesday evening sessions, which will consist of 20 minutes of training followed by 40 minutes of 3v3 games. Players will not be assigned to specific teams; rather, they'll be divided into groups each session.
A reversible jersey will be provided to each player. In addition, each child is required to bring his/her own soccer ball (size #3 for ages five-eight; size #4 for ages nine-10). In addition, shin guards and cleats must be worn.
According to Mountain Top, each player will touch the ball often.
"There will also be lots of playing time, increased ball possession, no goalies, high scoring and fast movement," said a league representative. "In addition, players will learn spacing and supporting shape."
"The program will build confidence of ball control and will enhance players' speed of play, field vision, field awareness and awareness of teammates," added a league representative.
"There will also be an increased number of game-related decision-making opportunities, constant transitions from attacking to defending situations and increased opportunities to utilize specific ball skills," said a league representative.
