WEST ORANGE, NJ – Registration is now open for two Mountain Top League (MTL) programs: Little Kickers and the 3v3 Training Program. Both programs are open to West Orange residents with children over the age of four and those in Pre-K and Kindergarten. In the Little Kickers program, children will play games on small fields. In the 3v3 program, there will be a 60-minute training session. Players will spend the first 20 minutes with trainers working on individual ball skills and will then be divided into smaller groups to play small-sided games (three players versus three players) for the remaining 40 minutes. Send an email to mtlsoccer@gmail.com with any questions.

"We're excited to offer both the Little Kickers & 3v3 Training Programs again this upcoming spring," said MTL In-House Soccer Trustee Chris McCree

The spring Little Kickers Program, which will run with teams and parent volunteers as coaches, will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays and will be played at Lower Redwood School from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The season will run for 10 weeks starting on the weekend of April 9/10 and end the weekend of June 18/19. No sessions will take place the weekend of May 28/29 for Memorial Day Weekend.

Volunteer coaches are permitted to request one player besides their own child per team. Besides siblings, MTL is unable to honor specific requests for teammates or coaches in the Little Kickers program.

"We're always looking for new volunteers, especially for the Little Kickers program,” said McCree, “If you're interested in coaching this upcoming season, please email us at mtl.soccer@gmail.com."

For Little Kickers, each child will receive a team jersey, shorts, shin guards, and socks. Each child is required to come each week with his/her own # 3 soccer ball, and they must wear at least sneakers. Soccer cleats are not required for Little Kickers, but they are recommended.

The Registration Fee is $85 for Little Kickers (no refunds). This fee is good through March 7. The Late registration Fee is $115 and will be charged from March 7-15. Space is limited for the Little Kickers program, and registration will close once all available spots are filled, those interested are advised not to wait to register. Registration closed on March 15. No registrations will be accepted after March 15. For those who miss registration, those children can still participate in the 3v3 program. Send an email to mtlsoccer@gmail.com with any questions.

"Don't wait until the last minute to sign-up. In-house soccer is our most popular sport and the spots fill up quickly," said McCree.

MTL’s co-ed 3v3 Training Program will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays at Edison Middle School. The season will run for 10 weeks starting on the weekend of April 9/10 and end the weekend of June 18/19. No sessions will take place the weekend of May 28/29 for Memorial Day Weekend. The Registration Fee is $115 for 3v3 (no refunds). This fee is good through April 7.

Children participating in the 3v3 Training Program will receive a training jersey, shorts, and socks. Each child is required to come each week with his/her own # 3 or #4 soccer ball and must wear shin guards and cleats.

Cluelessly Clueless

I teenaged my way through high school under the assumption that my parents had no idea what I was doing.  I like to think I was pretty good at withholding information and presenting situations in ways that were other than they really were.

Still, sometimes they found things out.  Like the time my friends plopped me on our front door step at one o'clock in the morning ...
