WEST ORANGE, NJ - In addition to the nine new police officers to be sworn in Friday, Sept. 5, Mayor Robert Parisi and the township will promote six police offers to Sergeant.
"We're thrilled to have nine new recruits become part of our organization," said Mayor Robert Parisi in a telephone interview with TAP into West Orange.
"This was a long process that began in 2013," he continued. "They were strong applicants and they all did well at the academy and with their training. We're excited to have them as new officers."
Being sworn in as new West Orange Police Department officers: Matthew Reiss, Giovanni Rodriguez, Derrick Morrison, Vincent Manzella, Christopher Davis, Gregory Willis, Christopher Polizzano, Michael DelPlato and Andrew Ayre.
Six current West Orange police officers will be promoted to the rank of sergeant, as well.
Said Parisi, "The six officers will be filling organizational slots in the department. They all did very well on the Sergeant's exam and we're excited to promote them into those positions."
Being promoted to the rank of Sergeant: Sgt. James Cullen, Sgt. John Rolli, Sgt. Michael Cassidy, Sgt. Patrick Matullo, Sgt. Andrew Berkery, and Sgt. Patrick Carosia.
The swearing-in and promotion ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. and be held at the Wilshire Grand Hotel, 350 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange. The community is invited to attend the ceremony.
