'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Showing at Local Theaters


WEST ORANGE, NJ - The much anticipated film Star Wars: The Force Awakens has it's official opening day on Friday, Dec. 18, but screenings at local theaters started on Dec. 17. Tickets can be purchased in advance, and doing so is recommended, as some show times are sold-out already. Runtime is 136 minutes

Here are three local cinemas showing Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Friday:
AMC Dine-in Theaters Essex Green (495 Prospect Ave., West Orange)
AMC Loews East Hanover 12 (145 Route 10 East, East Hanover)
Bow Tie South Orange Cinemas (1 SOPAC Way, South Orange)
Bow Tie Millburn Cinemas (350 Millburn Ave., Millburn)

3D           7:00         10:00

For those who may be planning to attend the movie dressed in costume, please note guidelines that were sent via email from Bow Tie Cinemas that stated "Star Wars costumes are welcome. However, no face coverings, face paint, capes, cloaks, simulated weapons (including lightsabers/blasters) will be allowed in the building."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise. Revenge of the Sith was the last Star Wars movie released, premiering in 2005. 

Star Wars: The Force Awakens includes original cast members from Lucas' mega hit Star Wars that debuted in 1977. The first episode in the series was later renamed, Episode IV: A New Hope.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is PG-13, with a running time of 2 hours and 16 minutes.
