West Orange Arts Council is doing more than ever for their annual event, previously called Arts Fest. This year it is Studio WOAC at the Loft.

One of the biggest draws is the annual display of art from students throughout the district schools. The art is being brought over from every school in the district. All schools are participating.

This year, we are having an incredible, one day event where there will be demonstrations from many (so far about 14) artists who will set up their working studios in the Wilshire Grand's LOFT.

Mansa Mussa, arts educator and photographer extraordinaire, is giving a workshop for kids where they will learn digital camera portraiture photography.

The High School string quartet will be the opening musical act.  There will be an array of attractions in the artists' studios:  sculpture of several genres, hand coloring photographs, acrylic painting, conceptual art, drawing, comic book illustration, calligraphy, mono printing, and more. The flyer says it all!

The event is free and open to all. A free family event for the entire community that will open eyes and hearts to the arts.

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
