WEST ORANGE, NJ — A 17-year-old boy was charged with 12 counts of criminal mischief after authorities said he spray-painted his graffiti tag “Gimmic” on sidewalks, buildings and other property.

The teen committed the acts of vandalism between April 27 and 29, according to police reports. The investigation is continuing.

It is unknown at this time whether anyone else will be charged, according to Susan Anderson, West Orange public information officer.

The cost to remove the graffiti has not yet been totaled. The juvenile is from the Pleasantdale area of the township, Anderson said.

In each instance, the teen mostly used blue and black spray paint, as well as red and white spray paint, according to police reports. He left his graffiti tag, “Gimmic,” before he moved on to other property.

On Franklin Avenue, front brick stairs of a home were tagged. A building on that street was also struck, according to reports.

A detached garage on Mitchell Street, a section of sidewalk on Moore Terrace, the Pleasantdale Mini Mart, two bus stops on Pleasant Valley Way, a 2001 Chevrolet G3500 white van parked on Eagle Rock Avenue as well as property on Conforti Avenue were also struck, according to police reports.
