WEST ORANGE, NJ — Three teens reported that they were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday.
When an 18-year-old female from Fanwood, an 18-year-old male from New Providence and a 19-year-old Caucasian from Short Hills arranged to meet two men on Sept. 11 just before 5 p.m. to purchase marijuana in the area of Gilbert Place in West Orange, the teens reported that they were robbed at gunpoint instead.
According to a release from Mayor Robert Parisi, the teens said that they were met by a white male and a Hispanic male, both described as being in their early 20s. The men brandished a handgun, according to the teens, who reported that they were robbed of approximately $70.
The suspects are said to have fled the area in a grey-colored Nissan/Toyota.
The West Orange Police Detective Bureau is currently conducting an active investigation. Police do not know why the group chose West Orange as a meeting location.
