WEST ORANGE - The Manor Restaurant, located at 111 Prospect Avenue, has received Wine Spectator's "Best of Award of Excellence" for 2014. The August issue of Wine Spectator will feature the list of award-winning restaurants, including The Manor, and will hit newsstands on July 22.

Wine Spectator is a prominent worldwide magazine and online resource that specializes in wine information and culture. The judges at Wine Spectator evaluate wine lists of dining establishments and acknowledge those that "offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine, and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.”

According to Keith Sly, director of Public Relations for Knowles Restaurants, "To receive special recognition for the 'Best of Award of Excellence,' The Manor had to meet or exceed several requirements."

"These included a wine list that is “superior in presentation” and one that displays either “vintage depth with several vertical offerings of top wines, or excellent breadth across several wine regions.”

Sly noted that recipients of this award also typically offer 400 or more selections and that The Manor’s wine list showcases well in excess of 800 different wine choices.

In addition to the restaurant’s wide range of international wines from traditional wine regions, carefully-chosen bottles sourced from emerging producers are also available.

Domestic vintners are featured along with old and new world winemakers in Germany, Italy, Argentina, and Chile, New Zealand and Portugal, Greece and Israel. A look at The Manor’s comprehensive wine list provides patrons with notable and well-scored selections from champagnes and ports to the full scope of reds and whites. The pricing is as diverse as the selections.

Wine Spectator judges noted The Manor’s particular strengths in the wines of California and France.

Sly continued, "General Manager and Wine Director, Michael Cammarano has used his over three decades of experience at The Manor to help hone its expansive wine collection, ensuring that the range of offerings reflects both the quality and style of the cuisine as well as the preferences of the restaurant’s loyal patrons."

Cammarano has been instrumental in the The Manor’s successful string of annual Wine Spectator award recognition since 1984.
