WEST ORANGE, NJ - Thomas Edison National Historical Park, located at 211 Main Street, is celebrating its Annual Edison day in style. Not only has the museum been selected to represent New Jersey's 350th Birthday by hosting "Year of Innovation" events, it's also front and center at the June 7 Downtown West Orange Alliance Street Fair.

Several free events are planned at both the Edison Laboratory and Glenmont, Edison's home in Llewelyn Park. (Fees may apply for regular entrance into the museum).

The Alternative Press is attaching the TENHP schedule of events for June 7, and they can also be downloaded here.

To highlight just a few, get ready for these events at the Laboratory Complex: Joe Fagan, West Orange town historian, will be on hand with West Orange's oldest known artifact, a clock owned by the Williams family in the 1700s; Wax cylinder recordings; the NJ Hall of Fame Mobile Museum will be on-site; Black Maria film events; and hands-on chemistry activities.

Over at Glenmont, get ready for the Electric Car show and tour the property.

This will be the biggest event of the year at Thomas Edison National Historical Park, and everyone's invited.

Monica Perkowski: Embracing Dialogue as a Path Forward

September 25, 2016

One of the focuses of my campaign is expanding the lines of communication between residents and the township council. To me, this means council members working with residents to solicit ideas and communicating with residents regularly to let them know why one might support, oppose, or have further questions about a given issue. A recent issue that fits this criteria is the potential Senior ...

Dear Democrats: The Road Less Traveled Needs Paving

On November 8th, many voters entering the voting booth will be checking the box for who they dislike the least. Sadly, our political culture is now defined more by what we oppose. This election will mark the end of a unique, if not historic campaign season punctuated by demagoguery and hate filled speeches by one candidate, and the ...

Letting the Jean-ie Out of the Bottle

Sometime between the end of last spring and the beginning of this fall, someone snuck into my closet and shrunk all my jeans.  I tried to convince my husband that we had a problem with the dryer, but since all of his jeans still fit, it was a hard sell.  Without thinking it through, he scoffed and suggested that maybe it wasn't the jeans – maybe it was ...

‘Bathing in Moonlight’ Recalls 1950s Cuba

PRINCETON, NJ – Although this  play by Nilo Cruz is set in 2015, reflecting both Cuba and Miami, the theme is closer to struggles at least 30 years earlier.

A priest who falls in love would more likely become an Episcopalian or even a Unitarian. So this dichotomy makes the whole premise less than believable. It’s really “The Thornbirds” revisited.
