WEST ORANGE, NJ — A memorial tribute to the late Michael Fabiano, who served as the long-time West Orange deputy mayor and Democratic Party Committee Chair, was held at the West Orange Township Council meeting on Tuesday.
Leading off the recognition of Fabiano’s legacy was Assemblyman John McKeon, a former mayor of West Orange.
“I really got to know the type of man Michael was when I lost as mayor,” he said. “He treated me with the same love and respect as when I was mayor.”
Former Governor Richard Codey also remembered Fabiano by saying that Fabiano “loved West Orange and “loved the Democratic Party.”
“He was deeply committed to the town and believed that government was a tool for the good of the community,” said Codey.
Fabiano’s wife, Patricia Spango, who served as a member of the West Orange Township Council, was also in attendance for the memorial.
“I stand before you tonight as Mrs. Michael Fabiano,” she said. “He was bigger than life, and touched so many lives—especially all of us here tonight and his children.”
