WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were two additional cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Saturday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi.

The total intake of cases in West Orange was 1,293, with no additional deaths reported on Saturday. Deaths are included in this number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. Fifteen residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, and, of them, four were in intensive care. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange remained at 163. There were 487 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 740 recovered and closed cases.

In the last 10 days, the increase in the amount of new coronavirus cases in West Orange has been less than 10 each day.

Essex County reported a total of 17,680 cases of COVID-19 Saturday, an increase of 109 overnight, with 39,954 negative test results. There have been 1,654 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.

In New Jersey, an additional 764 coronavirus cases Saturday brought the total in the state to 159,608, according to the state Department of Health. The number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized as of late Monday was 2,626, 81 fewer than the day before.
