WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Police Department is investigating the separate thefts of two motor vehicles in the township over a two-day period last weekend.
According to police, sometime between Saturday evening and late Sunday afternoon, a 1999 Ford F-250 was reported stolen from a High Street address. The owner told police that his green Super Cab was parked at a curb on High Street before he noticed it was missing at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
The owner of the F-250 told police there also was a Milwaukee Impact Drill valued at around $500 inside the truck. The owner said his vehicle was locked before it was taken. The case is still under investigation.
Earlier that weekend, a 2003 Ford Econoline was reported stolen from a location on Wheatland Avenue between 7 p.m. Jan. 15 and 8 a.m. Jan. 16. The van had been left at a repair shop on South Valley Road a week earlier. The victim said that a representative from Castillo Auto Repair told the van's owner that the shop's lot was full, so he parked the car on Wheatland, where it was stolen either Friday night or Saturday morning.
The van was later recovered by Newark police.
