WEST ORANGE, NJ — The COVID-19 vaccination process has begun, and all West Orange residents can access the K-Mart Vaccination Center located at the West Orange Plaza at 235 Prospect Ave.
The KMART Vaccination Center is administering the MODERNA vaccine that requires two doses, 28 days apart.
West Orange Mayor Robert Parisi reported Tuesday morning that 991 residents of West Orange so far have received the vaccination.
The following groups are currently eligible for vaccination:
• All healthcare personnel
• Residents of long-term care or assisted living communities
• All Frontline First Responders
• All people 65 years of age and older.
• People ages 16 to 64 with one or more high-risk medical conditions.
For a full listing of those currently eligible or for a list of the qualifying high-risk medical conditions, check out the Township website at www.westorange.org/vaccine.
As the state opens the vaccine to more categories of residents, or when at home, on-site vaccinations for seniors or disabled residents become available, information will be updated.
Residents can register for the vaccine at www.EssexCovid.org or by calling the Essex County COVID Call Center at 973-877-8456.
This site operates Mondays – Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
After registering you will receive an email and text message confirming the registration has been received. Once an appointment becomes available you will receive an email and a text message with an appointment date and time. This can be several days after submitting your initial pre-registration survey, so registrants have been asked to remain patient.
It is possible that you may not be able to secure a vaccination date immediately. Dates are filling up quickly and the system only schedules dates based on available vaccines. As more vaccine becomes available, more dates will be open for residents.
Residents can also register for the vaccine through the State of New Jersey Vaccine Scheduling System at https://covidvaccine.nj.gov
