WEST ORANGE, NJ — Local families received a pleasant surprise over the holidays when they learned that the items they put on layaway at the West Orange Kmart (235 Prospect Avenue) had been paid off.
West Essex Business Partnership (WEBP), a professional networking organization made up of business owners in the West Essex area, recently collected $400 pay off these layaways as a way to give back to the communities it serves. The families that benefitted from this donation were kept anonymous, but Don Anfuso, president of WEBP, was thrilled to learn from the manager of Kmart that it put a smile on their faces.
“Over the years, we’ve tried to do different things with different organizations, but what we found is it’s very difficult to even give things away or give money to certain organizations and make sure it gets to the right people,” said Anfuso. “We’re just looking to give back and actually do something to make a difference to somebody and support the people directly in the local West Essex area.”
According to Anfuso, WEBP was started nearly four years ago with the idea of putting a group together where the members knew the people within their areas of business. The group now meets every Tuesday evening at Thatcher McGhee’s in Fairfield to share resources and dinner.
Within the organization, one person represents each profession, including one mortgage broker, one real estate attorney, one family law attorney, one dentist, one financial planner and so on. To learn more or to become involved, click HERE.
