WEST ORANGE, NJ – West Orange High School senior Tyler Eatman was recently recognized by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, Essex Chapter, at Mayfair Farms.

Eatman received the recognition as a scholar-athlete along with his football performance and school leadership skills.

“Tyler was four-year member of both the football and wrestling teams,” said head football coach Jim Matsakis. “On the football field he was a starting offensive lineman and was part of the conference championship team in 2017, and he was also part sectional-winning wrestling team this past season.”

Academically, Eatman excelled in the classroom while also holding the top-student ranking for the senior football players, Matsakis also noted.

“I feel honored for being recognized for this scholarship,” said Eatman. “I enjoyed playing football for all four years of my high school career and I am truly going to miss it. I would like to thank Coach Matsakis and his coaching staff for believing in my ability to play football, my parents and family for supporting me, my teammates for working hard every day and the support of WOHS. Go WO Mountaineers.”

In addition to the recognition by the National Football Foundation, Eatman will be achieving Eagle Scout rank this spring. He plans to attend Ohio State University on an academic scholarship.

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
