WEST ORANGE, NJ — According to the unofficial election results provided by the Essex County Clerk’s Office, Ken Alper will fill the open seat on the West Orange Board of Education.
The unofficial results determined that Alper pulled ahead of opponent Christopher Diaz with 4035 votes or approximately 54.32 percent. Diaz tallied a total of 3375 votes or about 45.44 percent in comparison.
“This has just been an amazing journey over the past several months," said Alper. "I walked every section of West Orange and met voters in every corner of this township. I have learned so much about what is important to the people of West Orange and what they need the district to do. I am really looking forward to working for them over the next years.”
Alper will replace current board member Laura Lab, who will not return to the board for another term next year.
The results of this election are not considered official until they are certified by the state.
