MORRISTOWN, NJ -- In a close game, the fourth-seeded West Orange Baseball Team fell just short, losing 2-1 to top-seeded Morristown in the Semifinals of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 Tournament on May 31.
West Orange scored first in the top of the fourth inning, with Kevin Rodriguez hitting an RBI single, but that was matched in the bottom half of the inning with Morristown's Luke Nicolai scoring a run.
Then in the sixth inning, Morristown's Tate Ballestero singled in an RBI, scoring Andrew Mandel, which proved to be the winning run of the game.
West Orange's Andrew Schuls pitched a five-hitter with an earned run to take the loss.
Morristown advances to the finals on Friday. Their opponent will be either sixth-seeded Paterson Eastside or second-seeded Ridgewood.
