"Nutley is a very tough opponent," he continued. "They are very well-coached and their kids play really hard. As a group we did a great job of keeping the pressure on them."

Nevins went on to describe the Mountaineers' game play. "Our six goals were scored by four different players, which is great. Captain Rory Stello opened the scoring and Dan Romain scored twice before halftime."

After  Zach Ames scored to bring the score to 4-0, Romain completed his hat trick with Weldeghergis finishing off the scoring.

"Diego Pedrido was great in goal," Nevins continued. "and the defense was really tough with senior captain John Aristizabal leading the way."

Senior Bryan Brufau was a "standout at defense and midfield" according to Nevins, who also lauded junior Zach Brown's work in midfield.

All in all, Nevins concluded, "It was the perfect way to start the season."

The Mountaineers face off against Newark Academy in an away game on September 8 at 4:00 pm and a home game v. Livingston on September 11, also at 4:00 pm.
