WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange Chamber of Commerce (WOCC), in collaboration with the Essex County Office of Small Business Development, will present a three-hour Business Builders workshop entitled “Solutions and Tools to Grow Your Small Business” on Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Turtle Back Zoo.

Both members and non-members of the WOCC are invited to hear from two dynamic speakers about topics concerning small business owners, including how to access resources and capital, preparing for financing and other topics that will benefit small business owners in Essex County.

“The WOCC is pleased to collaborate with the Essex County Office of Small Business Development to present this important workshop for our members and guests,” said WOCC president Tim Brennan. “This is an excellent opportunity for our small business members to discover various way in which they can do business with and within Essex County. This is just one way that the Chamber ardently works toward providing meaningful and valuable content that benefits small business owners. We look forward to a successful event that will move businesses forward in Essex County.”

Two speakers include: Steven Gomez, executive director of the Greater Newark Enterprises Corporation (GNEC), and Michael Miller, community development officer of the Union County Economic Development Corporation (UCEDC).

The GNEC is a 501©3 non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides financing, small business counseling, and training services to entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout northern New Jersey. UCEDC is a private non-profit Community Development Financial Institution that fosters economic growth by providing financial and technical assistance to new and existing businesses with emphasis on benefiting under-served people and communities.

The role of the Essex County Office of Small Business Development and Affirmative Action (SBDAA) is to ensure equal opportunity and fair play in contracting, procurement and employment within the county. This event is one of many produced by the SBDAA throughout the year.
