WEST ORANGE, NJ — There was only one additional case of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Friday, according to Mayor Robert Parisi.
This was the ninth consecutive day that the township reported fewer than 10 new coronavirus cases.
The total number of West Orange intake of cases was 1,291. Deaths are included in this number and remain "active" until a full investigation is complete. Fifteen residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, and, of them, four were in intensive care.
The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in West Orange is 163. Parisi announced that five more deaths had been reported, all of which had occurred at least 13 days ago. There were 528 current active coronavirus cases in West Orange. The township reports that there have been 698 recovered and closed cases.
Essex County reported a total of 17,561 cases of COVID-19 Friday, an increase of 59 overnight, with 38,540 negative test results. There have been 1,649 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.
