NEWARK, NJ – West Orange Girls Basketball lost to University on the road, 57-43, on Tuesday.

What started out as a tie game after one quarter, ended in a 14 point win for the Phoenix. University consistently beat West Orange in the next two quarters, 11-6 and 22-5 respectively. Although the Mountaineers outscored University in the fourth quarter, 20-12, it was too little, too late and they lost, 57-43.

Jewel Burnett was the high scorer for West Orange with just 10 points. No other Mountaineer added more than 5 points. Jihayah Chavis had 16 points for University and Shadiyyah Guyton added 12 points with nine rebounds.

West Orange next plays Newark Tech at home on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 7:00 p.m.
