Last year, the Mountaineers placed sixth nationally and took regional and state honors.

In addition to the varsity team, the Junior Varsity also competed and won first place in the Non-Tumble division, earning the JV team a bid to the nationals as well.

"This is the first time JV has ever competed regionally and although we will not be sending them to nationals this season, it is still a huge accomplishment paving the way for the future of our program," said WOHS head coach Olivia Del Spina.

On Nov. 13, the Large Non-Tumble Varsity Game Day team took place at the Northeast Championship in Toms River, also receiving an automatic bid to nationals.

"The coaches are unbelievably proud of all three routines and the girls have worked extremely hard to get to this point," said Del Spina. "The girls continue to amaze us and we can't wait to see what's in store for nationals.”

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
