WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange High School Cheerleading Team took home First Place in the Super Essex Conference (SEC) Liberty Division at the Ninth Annual Cheerleading Halftime Showcase that was held at Foley Field in Bloomfield on Oct. 6.

The Lady Mountaineers competed against the Belleville Buccaneers, James Caldwell Chiefs, Central Blue Devils, Montclair Mounties, MKA Cougars, West Essex Knights, and the Verona Hillbillies.

“Congratulations to Colonial Champions-Glen Ridge; Liberty Champions-West Orange and American Champions- Cedar Grove,” read the SEC website.

Special awards went to: Orange-Most Spirited; Cedar Grove-Best Dance; and Nutley-Best Stunts.

The 2015 SEC Cheerleading Showcase was also touted as “Cheer for the Cure.” October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the over $5,000 proceeds raised from the event will be donated to Coaches vs. Cancer, The Wounded Warrior Project and to the Community Food Bank.
