West Orange High School Marching Mountaineers to Host Third Annual Invitational

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange High School Marching Mountaineers will host the Third Annual Invitational competition on Oct. 10, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at Suriano Stadium at West Orange High School, which is located at 51 Conforti Avenue. Tickets for the West Orange High School Mountaineers Marching Band Invitational are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students. Food will be available at the concession stand throughout the competition. The WOHS Marching Band Invitational is sponsored by Global Construction and run by the WOHS Music Boosters, a 501c3 Not for Profit Organization.

Several area high school marching bands will compete in the invitational including Livingston, Wayne Valley, Columbia, Piscataway, Morris Hills, Mount Olive, West Milford, Wayne Hills, Westwood and Verona. 

At 8:30 p.m., the award-winning West Orange Mountaineers will perform their 2015 program entitled, “Scenes from the Far East – Pursuit, Reflection, Conquest,” featuring “Pursuit from KAby Cirque du Soleil; “The Last Emperor Theme” by Ryuichi Sakamoto and “Khan” by Julie Giroux. West Orange will perform in exhibition as is customary for the host of the competition. The event will conclude with the award presentations in different categories including Best Overall Effect, Best Visual, Best Music, Best Percussion and Best Color Guard.

On Sept. 26, the Marching Mountaineers received first place honors in the USBands Yamaha Cup Group IV Open, also taking home awards for Best Music, Best Percussion and Best Color Guard.

Previous honors include the 2009 USSBA Group V Open NJ State Champions, 2009 USSBA Northern Regional Champions, 2010 USSBA Group V Open 3rd Place and 2011 USSBA Group V Open 2nd Place Champions.
