West Orange High School Varsity Lacrosse Coach Rob McOmish Resigns After First Season

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Rob McOmish, the head varsity lacrosse coach at West Orange High School, has resigned from his position. McComish is a phys ed teacher at Montclair High School and was the assistant Lacrosse coach for 11 years. In addition, McOmish was named as the new girls soccer coach at Montclair High for the fall of 2013. McOmish also runs clinics summer-long for lacrosse and soccer with his Big 5 Little Lax organization.

Both the varsity and junior varsity teams spent the year rebuilding and retraining, making progress with each game, but overall struggled through the season due to several faceoffs with more seasoned teams.

The Alternative Press caught up with McOmish, who gave the the following statement regarding his resignation:

"It was not that I didn't want to be in West Orange" said McOmish. "I just couldn't commit to the time needed in the off season due to my soccer job in Montclair and my club soccer commitment during the fall and spring. I appreciate the opportunity given to me by Principal Moore, Mr.Bligh, and the BOE.

The district is currently advertising in the required venues, like NJSIAA, for a new head lacrosse coach for the Spring 2014 season. Interested applicants can email Athletic Director Ron Bligh at
