WEST ORANGE, NJ - On Sunday, May 4, the award-winning West Orange High School Wind Ensemble performed at the New Jersey State Concert Band Gala in Nicholas Music Center at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. This is the seventh year in a row that the Wind Ensemble has performed at the event, which is by invitation only a few bands are selected to perform each year.

Considered an "Outstanding High School Music Program," the Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the Gala based on their Gold Medal performance the North Jersey School Music Association (NJSMA) Concert Band Festival held in March of 2014.
The WOHS Wind Ensemble is the top band of the high school’s four curricular bands. The 45-member ensemble is made up of 10-12 graders and is by audition only. Only five other New Jersey High Schools were chosen to perform.
Said Band Director Lew Kelly, "For the seventh year running, our group was selected to perform at the NJ State Concert Band Gala Concert. I'm very proud of the group for performing at such a high level".
