West Orange Human Relations Commission Recognizes School District Advocates at Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration

WEST ORANGE, NJ – West Orange School district members were recognized at the annual West Orange Human Relations Commission Martin Luther King celebration, which was held Jan. 19 at the Life Christian Church on Northfield Avenue.
Board of Education member Sandra Mordecai, Sangeeta Badlani of the Nikhil Badlani Foundation, and past and current presidents of the West Orange Unity Club were recognized for their accomplishments “embodying  the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King” in West Orange.
Mordecai is currently serving her second term on the Board of Education. The Badlani family and the Nikhil Badlani Foundation provide music scholarships for West Orange students and are tireless in their efforts to promote traffic safety.
Tim Betrand, a former West Orange High School student and former president of the West Orange Unity Club was recognized, along with current president Justin Newell. The Unity Club seeks to create inclusion and difference appreciation at the high school.
Pastor Douglas Adams, outgoing Chairperson of the West Orange Human Relations Commission was also recognized.
