WEST ORANGE, NJ _ A Northfield Avenue doctor told police last week that he received a call from the credit card company stating that he recently purchased a $3,103 Inflatable Boat built by Inmar Inflatable of San Diego, CA.

The suspicious transaction triggered an alert from Chase Bank on April 14, according to the police report.

The doctor did not buy that boat. He cancelled the credit card, but the inflatable boat was in the mail.

A week later, on April 26, before the package arrived, a suspicious man approached a mail carrier at the doctor’s address and told him he was expecting the package, the report states. The man showed the mail carrier a tracking number.

He returned last Thursday, approached a different mail carrier and inquired about the boat, the report states.

The man left the scene, however, driving a black SUV with out-of-state license plates, and has not been identified, according to police.
