WEST ORANGE, NJ - The provisional list of candidate names is in for the upcoming Nov. 4 municipal election and it includes seven candidates for at-large council, and four candidates for mayor.

According to Township Clerk Karen Carnevale, each of the candidates submitted a nominating petition, with a minimum of 280 signatures, to her office by the 4 p.m. deadline on Tuesday, though the list is unofficial until she and her staff certify the signatures.

Mayor Robert Parisi and council members Victor Cirilo and Susan McCartney will be running for reelection, and if all of the nominating petitions are indeed certified, the incumbents will face a crowded ballot.

In addition to the incumbents, candidates for council will include Jean Claude Cenatus, Christopher DarConte, Robert Hoatson, Irving Schwarzbaum and Akil Khalfani.

Certification of the petitions will become official on Sept. 11 and the drawing for positions on the ballot will take place 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12. If any of the signatures on the petitions are in need of clarification or correction, the candidates will have three days to address any problems.
