WEST ORANGE, NJ - Five adults and one juvenile were arrested in the early morning hours Friday, after a search warrant was executed on a township residence following a reported a kidnapping. 

Biondy “BJ” Joseph, 23 and Edouard Jean, 22, who were already under investigation by West Orange detectives for allegedly selling marijuana out of a home at 27 Ridgehurst Road, were charged with kidnapping, armed robbery, weapons offenses and terroristic threats. 

According to officials, the pair allegedly held a 16-year-old male captive at gunpoint on May 21 for about 13 hours and threatened his life after he removed $250 from a nightstand at the residence the prior evening. The teenager told police he took the money in an effort to reimburse himself for money missing from his wallet following a May 20 sleepover. The victim said the pair also robbed him of his cellphone and new sneakers, he told police.  The victim was later released with the understanding that he had a short time period to return the money or he would be killed, he told authorities.

Joseph and Jean had been under investigation since May 4 for allegedly selling marijuana from the residence. During the investigation, detectives purchased marijuana from the home. Joseph and Jean were additionally charged with several New Jersey drug crimes. Bail was set at $450,000 with no 10 percent option. Both are currently housed in the Essex County Jail. 

“The West Orange Police Department will not tolerate thug-like behavior in our community, said Lt. Will Varanelli. “If criminals decide they want to sell drugs and commit these predatory crimes, they will feel the weight of our resolve. ” 

Meanwhile, Alkahir Scott, 18, Andy Alexis, 19 , Jeneah Moore, 21 and a juvenile were all arrested at the residence and charged with possession of marijuana and conspiracy. All four were released with drug possessory charges.
