WEST ORANGE, NJ — Thefts of both a Mercedes-Benz and a motorcycle in the last week are under investigation by the West Orange Police Department.

A 2010 Mercedes was reported stolen after it was parked on Maple Street late in the evening on Monday, Oct. 12. The car's owner reported that he parked his car on Maple Street at around 6 p.m. and, later that night, when he came out to look for the vehicle, it was gone.

The owner told police he left the car unlocked with the keys, his social security card and his birth certificate inside.

A motorcycle was reported stolen from a Park Avenue driveway later that same night. The motorcycle's owner reported his 2008 Honda CBR600RR missing from his driveway, saying that it was stolen sometime between 11 p.m. Oct. 12 and 6:05 a.m. Oct. 13.  He stated one plate was affixed to the rear of the motorcycle at the time of the theft.
