WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange community is invited to a Christmas Jazz Vespers, to be held in the beautifully decorated Sanctuary at Pleasantdale Church on Sunday, December 1, at 7:30 pm.  The December Vespers will feature two very talented West Orange music teachers – Gregory Elementary School’s Ryan Krewer(trumpet) and Liberty Middle School’s Dave Rimelis (bandleader, guitar, strings).  They will be joined by Matt King on piano and Dave Longworth on drums.

Jazz Vespers combines the age-old tradition of evening meditation with the unique musical language of jazz.  It includes contemporary prose and poetry and outstanding music performed by internationally recognized jazz musicians.

Light refreshments are offered before and after the event in the Church Narthex, where visitors will enjoy the wonderful photography of West Orange resident Namrta Shah, an exhibit sponsored in collaboration with the West Orange Arts Council.

Jazz Vespers is held in the main building at Pleasantdale Church, 471 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange.  Admission is free; donations are gratefully accepted.  The building is fully accessible. Vespers are held on the first Sunday evening of each month (October through May) at 7:30 PM.

Cluelessly Clueless

I teenaged my way through high school under the assumption that my parents had no idea what I was doing.  I like to think I was pretty good at withholding information and presenting situations in ways that were other than they really were.

Still, sometimes they found things out.  Like the time my friends plopped me on our front door step at one o'clock in the morning ...
