West Orange Students Take Gold at Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest District Finals

NUTLEY, NJ — The West Orange Elks Lodge 1590 recently hosted its annual Elks Hoop Shoot basketball free throw contest at West Orange High School and two West Orange students took home gold on Dec. 10 in the Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest District finals held at the Nutley Recreation Center.

West Orange students Alex Massung (Roosevelt) was the first-place winner in the boys ages 12-13 category, and Gabriel Strassman (Edison), was the first-place winner in the boys ages 10-11 category.

Massung and Strassman will advance to the state finals, which will be held in South Plainfield on Feb. 11. Strassman won the state finals two years ago in the 8-9 year old boy group.
