West Orange to Compete in District 10 Wrestling Tournament; Three Wrestlers Earn Top Seed

NUTLEY, NJ — When the NJSIAA District 10 wrestling tournament begins Friday and Saturday, the West Orange High School varsity wrestling team will join Delbarton, Nutley, Columbia, Becton, Orange, Verona, Newark East Side, Wood-Ridge, Columbia and Union City at Nutley High School.

The top three wrestlers in each district will advance to regions next week.

The first round for this district will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday with the semifinals beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday and the final round currently set for 3 p.m. at Nutley High School.

Eight West Orange wrestlers were seeded in the top 4 of their respective weight classes, including Victor Lopez (No. 1), Edgar Moreno (No. 2), Michael Charles (No. 3), Abraham Dada (No. 2), Kevin Valle (No. 4), Sebastian Rawls (No. 1), Noah Tandy (No. 1) and Victor Kuga (No. 4).

Earlier this season, top-seeded Lopez broke the school record with 127 total wins. (See story HERE.)

Daniel Neil, Grade 9: 106 pounds; No. 6 seed in his weight class; 8-17 record

Victor Lopez, Grade 12: 113 pounds; No. 1 seed in his weight class; 26-1 record

Edgar Moreno, Grade 10: 120 pounds; No. 2 seed in his weight class; 20-6 record

Michael Charles, Grade 9: 126 pounds; No. 3 seed in his weight class; 14-14 record

Jadon Boyce, Grade 10: 132 pounds; No. 6 seed in his weight class; 0-0 record

Nunzio Castaldo, Grade 10: 138 pounds; No. 10 seed in his weight class; 5-20 record

Brandon Salazar, Grade 11: 145 pounds; No. 8 seed in his weight class; 3-7 record

Abraham Dada, Grade 12: 152 pounds; No. 2 seed in his weight class; 19-10 record

Kevin Valle, Grade 12: 160 pounds; No. 4 seed in his weight class; 12-16 record

Sebastian Rawls, Grade 11: 170 pounds; No. 1 seed in his weight class; 27-4 record

Jordan Delvalle, Grade 11: 182 pounds; No. 5 seed in his weight class; 13-18 record

Noah Tandy, Grade 11: 195 pounds; No. 1 seed in his weight class; 29-2 record

Thomas Hughes, Grade 11: 220 pounds; No. 5 seed in his weight class; 8-9 record

Victor Kuga, Grade 12: 285 pounds; No. 4 seed in his weight class; 19-10 record
