West Orange Town Council Meeting Set for Tuesday, April 23

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Town Council meeting will be held Tuesday, April 23, beginning at 6:30 pm with the Conference Agenda. It's Volunteer Week and the work of volunteers in West Orange will be acknowledged.  The Township will recognize the efforts of the West Orange Energy Commission as the township announces its Sustainable New Jersey Bronze Certification.

The Public meeting, beginning at 7:00 pm, will bring potential discussion on the proposed 2013-14 municipal budget, a request by the town council for the Board of Education to contribute approximately $20,000 towards the cost of returfing the Soccer Field (Lincoln Field) at WOHS, increases in the Mayfair districts storm sewer repairs, Nicholas Avenue repairs, and approval for the township to add 4 additional security cameras with the Packetalk proposal from Forfeiture funds.

Newark Man Sentenced to Three Years for Fatal Hit-and-Run in Verona

NEWARK, NJ - Jose Asencio of Newark was sentenced to three years in prison in Essex County Superior Court on Friday for leaving the scene of the hit-and-run accident that killed Matthew BeneduceMcGrath, 59 of Verona on June 24.   

BeneduceMcGrath was struck and killed while crossing the street at Bloomfield Avenue and Hillcrest Terrace.
