West Orange Township, School District Receive Safe Streets to School Recognition

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange Township and schools within the West Orange Public Schools district recently received Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Gold Level Recognition during the annual EZRide Luncheon held in Clark.

"Congratulations to West Orange Township, the West Orange Board of Education and our Pedestrian Safety Advisory Board (PSAB)," said PSAB member and Kelly Elementary School parent Lori Kapferer, who also helps the school's annual "Walk to School Day" with Kelly Principal Dr. Joanne Pollara. "Thanks to our local Transportation Management Agency, EZRide, and all who made these recognitions possible."

The following recognitions were announced: 

West Orange Township — SRTS Municipality Gold Level Recognition

Kelly Elementary — SRTS School Gold Level Recognition

Liberty Middle School — SRTS Bronze Level Recognition 

Washington Elementary School — SRTS Bronze Level Recognition

According to Kapferer, a highlight of the event was a presentation by Orange Mayor Dwayne Warren, Esq., who shared about SRTS initiatives in Orange. Warren announced that the City of Orange was recently awarded $1 million for infrastructure improvements as a result of its efforts.
