WEST ORANGE, NJ — A West Orange woman wanting a dog that did not shed was fleeced to the tune of $450 while trying to buy one, according to police.

The woman used Western Union to wire $450 to a man claiming to represent “Nonsheddinghavanesecan,” promising to hand off the hypoallergenic canine after he was paid, according to police.

The woman, who reported the incident to police on April 10, became wary when her requests to see the dog were met with more text messages requesting an additional $970 payment, police records show. Authorities advised the woman against making that payment.
