West Orange Wrestlers Will Compete in Union City Tournament Today

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Coming off back-to-back losses to its Caldwells’ area counterparts earlier this week, the wrestling contingent from West Orange High School will look for better results when the Mountaineer matsmen take part in the Union City Tournament, an event which is set to begin at 10 a.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 9, at UCHS.

The West Orange grappling contingent stands at a somewhat disappointing and very uncharacteristic 0-2, after the homestanding locals lost to, first, West Essex Regional, 43-26, on Wednesday, Jan. 6, and, then, James Caldwell High, 42-33, on Friday, the eighth.

The three West Orange grapplers who posted victories against both West Essex and James Caldwell High School were Noah Tandy, who won, 7-0, over Joe Servidio of West Essex at 195-pounds, prior to pinning Mark Piersanti of JCHS at the 3:21 mark of their 220-pound clash two days later; Victor Lopez, a 120-pounder who posted a major decision, 10-2, over West Essex's Joseph Tartani, before winning by forfeit Friday; and Sebastian Rawls, a 170-pound matsman who pinned Anthony Gulla of West Essex in 1:23 and who flattened Dante Capozzoli of JCHS at the three-minute mark of their clash on Friday.

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
