WEST ORANGE, NJ — The school search platform Niche.com this week published its 2021 ranking of Best Public High Schools, and West Orange High School scored high in Essex County's rankings.
West Orange High School was rated No. 11 among public schools in Essex County and 18th among all Essex County high schools.
West Orange has 2,118 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 11:1. It has a 91 percent graduation rate and an average SAT score of 1,140 among its students.
Niche.com gave West Orange High School an overall grade of A-, and an B+ in academics, a B+ for its teachers, an A- for college prep and an A- for health and safety. The school received an A+ for diversity and clubs and activities, and an A for facilities.
West Orange ranks seventh by Niche.com among all 505 public high schools in New Jersey in the category of Most Diverse.

Niche.com says it ranks schools based on a “rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.”
Newark Academy was the top-ranked school in Essex County. Millburn was the top-ranked public high school in the county.
