WEST ORANGE, NJ — There were five additional cases of COVID-19 reported in West Orange on Thursday, according to data provided by Mayor Robert Parisi.
The total of COVID-19 related deaths stands at 156 in West Orange. Parisi reported Thursday that there were two additional lives lost to the virus. One victim was 96 years old and the other was 72. The five new cases bring the West Orange total intake of cases to 1,258. Deaths are included in this number and remain "active" cases until a full investigation is complete. Fourteen residents remained hospitalized and, of them, three were in intensive care.
There have been 1,911 tests for COVID-19 that have registered as negative in West Orange. Parisi stated in a Facebook post Thursday that the number of recovered cases in the township continues to increase.
Essex County reported a total of 16,980 cases of COVID-19 Thursday, with 28,777 negative test results. There have been 1,579 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.
