After a short offseason, the dads of Bad to the Dad have come back for a holiday special. Or holi-"dad" special, to be more accurate.
On Saturday, December 14, Coach Randy and Adam D set up shop at Four City Brewing Company in Orange, and interviewed the founders of this new Essex County enterprise. It turns out that all three partners - Roger Apollon, Jeff Gattens, and Anthony Minvervino - are all dads.
"Each one of these guys is so different. You'd never imagine them coming together to form a business," observed Coach Randy. "But they're all linked by the West Orange parenting network and a passion for making great beer."
In full disclosure, the podcast hosts enjoyed their Four City samples. "Not only did these guys craft a variety of tasty beers, but they put a lot of thought into the names of the beers," said co-host Adam D. "Names like Brick Church Dark Wheat and Eagle Rocktoberfest will truly resonate with local beer lovers. I know they did with us!"
The idea of producing a holiday special came to the Bad to the Dad hosts shortly after they signed off on Season Two. Listeners had been asking for an episode to keep them whole until the start of the podcast's third season, scheduled for late January.
"We wanted to do something a little non-traditional, something that really felt like a holiday special," Adam D explains. "We had interviewed Roger [Apollon] in our first season, at a time when Four City was still under construction. Coach Randy and I had been itching to get there since it's launch in August and thought this was an excellent excuse to try a remote broadcast."
