Registration for Graphic Novel Camp

Participants write, draw and color original stories during this week-long camp.  Students will gain confidence as they create a fun work of original art from the ground up.  Together we will explore techniques of brainstorming, idea generation, how to plot a story and write a script.  Then we will learn how to break down panels and rough out our concepts.  We will also mix in some drawing tutorials:  how to shade, drawing expressions, etc.  Finally, we will link and color our creations!  Our time together will be broken up with fun collaborative games and exercises.

Because of the flexible nature of the program, the camp is great for younger and older kids with a variety of tastes and talent levels.

Students are required to bring their own lunches.  All other camp supplies and materials will be provided.

Sea to Shining Sea

I have never ridden in the back seat of my car. It is not high on my list of things to do before I die.

Yet here I am, somewhere outside Kearney, Nebraska, wedged tight behind the driver’s seat, duffle bags and backpacks piled high on the seat to my right, a garbage bag full of oily food wrappers, spent water bottles, and rotting orange peels on the floor between my feet awaiting discard ...
