Theater in The Park

Founders Park Conservancy is pleased to present the third annual Theater in The Park, a free event for all ages on Saturday, June 8, from 12 pm to 4:30 pm in Founders Park located on Valley St in South Orange. After two successful years, the thespian festival is back and bigger than ever.

During Theater in The Park local theater schools and groups will be performing pieces from their repertoire and will include everything from musicals, dance performances and even improv.

Performers will include Vanguard Theater, YMCA, Rocket Improv and more. The festival aims to bring people together through the common love of theater and hopes to introduce theater to those who may not get a chance to see it performed live.

New this year will be performances from surrounding schools West Orange Middle School, Heritage Middle School in Livingston and Marshalls Thespian Company as well as returning performances from Vanguard Theater, Rocket Improv, the YMCA and more. This year the event will be hosted by Bad Housecleaner Amy Howlett and Work and Play’s Deborah Engle.

Residents are allowed to bring their own food, blankets and low-profile folding chairs, there will be food and merchandise vendors as well as face painting and a bouncy house.

The free day of theater that is Theater in The Park would not be possible without its generous sponsors Sadie’s and kitchenalamode.

The Theater in The Park stage will be located in front of the gazebo facing the obelisk. Free 2 hour parking along Valley St. A big thank you to our supporting sponsors: South Orange Village,  Soma Living, Papermill Playhouse and our media sponsor tapinto soma To become a sponsor of this event or to learn more about Theater in The Park, go to Theaterinfounderspark.com or send an email to Catfisher82@gmail.com. A Portrait of the Artist as a Not So Young Man

I am an artist. It says so on my T-shirt.

My colorful shirt, which significantly inflates my position in life, confers great status. For one, it announces that I am a musical performer at the Montclair Jazz Festival. This distinguishes me from the thousands of other festival goers who only get to enjoy a great day of music, not make it.

More importantly, wearing my artist T-shirt ...
